India Under-19 was opposed to Japan Under-19 in the eighth match of the Group A in the 2024 Asian Cricket Council Under-19s Asia Cup at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on December 2, 2024. India came up with a mammoth 340 for the loss of six wickets in 50 overs to chase, courtesy a fine batting show. Mohamed Amaan scored an unbeaten 122 for his team while Ayush Mhatre had 54, KP Karthikeya 57 and Hardik Raj 25*.
In reply, Japan Under-19 was unable to maintain the wanted run rate. However, a determined knock of 50 by Hugo Kelly still only reached 128/8 in fifty overs, losing by a margin of 211 runs. India’s bowlers, specifically Hardik Raj, Chetan Sharma and KP Karthikeyan were on song and effectively packed a big blow to the Japan batting line-up and controlled the run rate. India’s performance in all rounders was overwhelming, their capability to bat as well as to bowl made an impact and took the match fairly easily.
India’s Innings: Amaan’s Captaincy Shines
Chasing the target, New Zealand Under-19 weakened at 251 all out in their fifty overs after India Under-19 decided to bat first after winning the toss. The highlight of the inning was the captain, Mohamed Amaan who scored a brilliant knock before he was retired hurt on 122. Amaan’s innings can be defined as a patient aggressive approach, for which he scored seven boundaries.
He was well accompanied by Ayush Mhatre who came earlier in the crease, and set the beauty rolling with 54 runs off 29 balls. High strikers in Ft09 included Mhatre who whose strike rate was 186.20, 6 fours, and 4 sixes. They moved through to the wicket and played with Indian under 19 cricket team

Conclusion
The India Under-19 played in all the four quarters of the game and achieved a handsome victory of 211 runs against Japan. The best performing player was undoubtedly Mohamed Amaan who single handedly produced a splendid century that formed the bedrock of India’s batting. Although Japan struggled, their run chase was never going to be possible against the Indian bowling where the wickets were shared equally. The match provided a glimpse of India’s strength in the youth cricket and they will try to carry forward this momentum in the tournament.
