The first T20 rivalry
The first T20 international was played at the stadium of Harare Sports Club(or Salisbury Sports Club) on 6 July 2024. This series was the main highlight as India, after winning the t20 world cup, was playing their first international match. Moreover, after the sudden retirement of the 3 key players, India’s eye took the series with the storm. Well, the retirement of the World Cup winning captain Rohit Sharma, the star batter Virat Kohli and the world number 1 all rounder Ravindra Jadeja postback the team to a whole new journey. Now, the question arises, who will be the next captain? Finding the answer, team India reached Zimbabwe, Harare Stadium where the first T20I was played. This was India’s first tour to Zimbabwe after India’s famous rivalry with South Africa. The toss was eventually won by India and they decided to ball first. Hence, giving Zimbabwe their chance to bat first. Talking about Zimbabwe’s performance, they scored 115 runs, losing 9 wickets in 20 overs. India, felt relaxed as the score of 116 in 20 overs, but the result was not satisfactory from the team India. After the brilliant performance of India facing South Africa, they lost the match scoring 102 runs losing 10 wickets in 19.5 overs. The match was eventually in the hands of Zimbabwe, by 1-0 and the player of the match was given to Sikandar Raza for his marvelous performance of taking 3 wickets and surrendering 25 runs in 4 overs.
The second fight
The second T20 international was played at the stadium of Harare Sports Club(or Salisbury Sports Club) on 7 July 2024.The rivalry was going beyond the expected. After the defeat of India’s match yesterday. The pressure eventually begins to rise. Talking about the toss, then it was eventually won by India, but this time, they decided to bat rather than bowl. Hence, giving targets to Zimbabwe. Talking about India’s performance, then in this match they played a marvelous performance by scoring 234 runs losing only 2 wickets in 20 overs. Also, through this match, Abhishek Sharma scored his first century in the international cricket match. Talking about the performance of Zimbabwe, then it was not quite satisfactory. They scored 134 runs losing 10 wickets in 18.4 overs. The match was eventually won by India by 100 runs, and the player of the match was eventually given to Abhishek Sharma for his marvelous 100 runs in just 47 balls, and surrendering 36 runs in 3 overs. The match was now tied with the score of 1-1.
Zimbabwe losing the match, but the series? Their third rivalry
The third rivalry was something enjoyable and somewhat nervous. This match decided that the match was ultimately given to which of the teams. Now, the pressure was in both the hands of the team. The match was eventually played on 10 July 2024, at the Harare Stadium. Discussing the toss, like the before match, India won the toss and decided to bat first. Talking about India’s performance, India scored 182 runs losing 4 wickets in 20 overs. There was still a nervousness in the minds of the Indian audience, thinking that the team would not eventually win in today’s match. But the comeback of Washington Sundar eventually shocked the Indian audience. The match was eventually won by team India as Zimbabwe scored 159 runs losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. And they won the match by just 23 runs. The rivalry remained insane as the team India got the upper hand by 2-1. The player of the match was eventually given to the Washington Sundar for his marvelous performance of surrendering 15 runs in 4 overs and taking 3 wickets.
A do or die situation for the teams
Well, till now you are quite excited for the rivalry and the reason is that it is not the rivalry you get, but the rivalry you want. This rivalry was somewhat more enjoyable and nervous, because this match eventually decided who will be the champion of the series. If Zimbabwe plays well they can still hold the series within himself. But, if India won the match, the series will be of India, no matter what. The match was eventually played on 13 July 2024, at the Harare Stadium. Talking about the toss, it was eventually won by India and they decided to ball first. Well, the decision was quite nervous because in the first match India decided to ball but eventually lost the match, but India’s confidence skyrocketed because of the performance of Washington Sundar. Talking about the performance of Zimbabwe, they scored 152 runs losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. The performance was not quite good, but the performance of India was still left. Talking about the performance of India, they scored 156 runs, first time losing no wickets in 15.2 overs. Hence, the match and the series was eventually in the hands of India as India won the match by 10 wickets. The series was in the hands of India with 3-1 and the player of the match was Yashaswi Jaiswal for his marvelous performance of 93 not out with 53 balls.
The final match
The final match of the series between them was on 14 July 2024 at Harare Stadium only. By now, the match won by any team will make no change in the result of the series. Discussing the toss result, the toss was eventually won by Zimbabwe and they decided to ball now. Coming straight to the performance of India, they scored 167 runs losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. The performance was not satisfactory with the team India, but Zimbabwe is still left for his performance. If you think, what’s the matter? The series is eventually in the hands of team India. Well, the result doesn’t matter in the journey, but the performance. If any team performs well in the game, they surely get appreciation from the people even if they lose the series. Talking about the performance of the Zimbabwe national cricket team, they did not perform well. Literally worse than the last match, they scored 125 runs losing 10 wickets in 18.5 overs, maybe they felt relaxed because they know what can be the result. Or it can be another Jay Shah script, god knows. Talking about the result, the match was eventually won by India by 42 runs and eventually won the series by 4-1. The player of the match was eventually given to Shivam Dube who took 2 wickets by surrendering 25 runs in 4 overs and the player of the series was eventually given to Washington Sundar for his incredible performance.
